Welcome to the Registers section of the Porsche Club of Victoria.
Well, here we are again at the start of another year and it is shaping up to be one that packs the calendar as far as the registers are concerned. To date we have 21 events listed in the calendar with the promise of more to come.
Stephen Fisher with assistance for Geoffrey Mould is busy designing and organising a number of events for the 996 & 997 register including an over night run. Rob Fairley will have held his 996 & 997 over-nighter by now and should make for a very interesting read in the next edition. Adrian Harkin has hit his straps in the hot seat now known as the Torque Tube Register listing four events already. Well done Adrian! For those who wonder what this register represents the list is exhaustive. 924, 944, 928 and 968 are all in there.
Graham Lachlan will run his highly successful monthly early morning Turbo Register runs and is creating the 6 hour challenge. This is an orienteering event where the participants (we are not all competitors) receive a map and a start and end point. This should prove to be very interesting indeed. My co-captain in the Mid 911 Register Steve Page and aided by Ron Wishart have been hard at work on the Noojee run that will have already taken place by the time you read this. Peter Cromie is beavering away putting together the social moto-kana event similar to last years Mangalore run and the overnight run to Rutherglen that is to be held later this year.
Watch out for the up coming Register go-cart challenge. We will be looking for teams to represent each register to apply their driving skills on a different track later in the year.
My family and I holidayed in Thailand and Cambodia at Christmas and my son Dylan, a PCV member for a few years now was always vigilant and found this 911 cab in Chiang Mai. Located in the far north of Thailand I was struck as to the good condition of the car (must be that factory galvanising). The owner was a young Thai who worked in the area. I just kept wondering who services his car; it’s a long drive to Bangkok for a service.
Anyway dear friends, please print the calendar from the events page on the web site. Stick it on your fridge and circle the ones you are going to attend. The rest is simple. Turn up and have a good time.
See you at an event soon
Keith
